home.
Since I’ve come home, I’ve been so busy at work I’ve barely had time to think. But when I do, I think about all the wonderful people I got to meet over the last 6 months, and I miss them all and the fun times we had together.
And I hope I get to see them again, soon.

American football
Last night, I went to an American football game. Berkeley vs USC at AT&T Park. We lost 30-9.
A few observations:
Berkeley is awful at football, and we were never going to win this game, but a few years ago, we at least wouldn’t have lost so badly.
Our marching band is pretty good though.
I kind of understand the basic mechanics of the game now.
Football is really boring....

Also, you should know, that the main criterion for my evaluation in these coffee reviews is going to be the quality of the coffee.
A cafe could be awful in many other ways and I would still approve if it had good coffee.

Coffee Reviews: Caffe Strada
No, that’s not a typo. It actually is “Caffe” not “Cafe”. I don’t know why, maybe it’s trying to be fancy, maybe that’s the actually way you spell it.
Anyway.
The ambiance there is lovely. There’s a lot of seating, and the outdoor area is surrounded by hedges, and they have wooden tables, making it feel peaceful and serene. You can almost...

Class starts tomorrow. Excited and sad.
The last few weeks have been amazing - seeing Berkeley and San Francisco, enjoying the weather (and sunny blue skies), meeting new people and getting settled in has been so much fun. Tomorrow is not the end of the good times, but it feels like I’m transitioning back from holiday-mode to uni-mode.
I’m excited to see just how different/similar...

My solution to not understanding coins here is to not use them.

I am on the lookout for good coffee. Lattes here apparently all come in tall glasses with handles. And taste bad. I may have to start ordering something else.

I arrived in San Francisco today.
UC Berkeley is an incredibly beautiful, albeit hilly, campus. It does make for stunning views though.
I should feel jetlagged, but strangely enough I don’t - probably due to the few hours of sleep I managed to get on the plane, and (more likely) adrenaline.
The weather is lovely, it was foggy when I arrived, but it’s lifted now and it’s...

On Thursday:
Spent more than two hours sitting in a small room on the sixth floor of a nondescript office building.
Obtained: one (1) US student visa.

Less than three weeks to go...
So, I’m heading to the Berkeley, California in just a few weeks time.
I have flights, but no visa.
I don’t understand why their money is all the same colour and size. Or why their coins have special names (pennies, nickels, dimes) that appear to have no relationship to their denomination. They use different sized paper (hence the name of this very blog - “Letter Size”),...
